Bands

Bands are musical ensembles usually related to the world of rock and pop. There have been some very influential artists over the years that have made up bands, including the likes of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, The Cure, The Smiths, Nirvana, Pixies, Black Sabbath and many more. So many bands are parts of so many different genres which themselves change and evolve over the years.

Popular, modern day bands include the likes of Radiohead, Muse, U2, The Killers, The White Stripes, Tool, Elbow, Franz Ferdinand, Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Metallica and Pearl Jam amongst many others.

Bands are usually made up of a lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, drummer and singer (who might also play one of the mentioned instruments). This can change depending on the genre, but in rock music this is the most common form of line up.

However, some bands do not have that many members and instead might only have two, such as The White Stripes, which includes a guitarist/singer and a drummer. Some bands only have one person, but instead of promoting themselves by their name, they have a title (such as Trent Reznor in Nine Inch Nails).
